Ok, back to routine programming on the blog for a bit. I’m truly backlogged from my may posts. I did a lot of makeup hauls right before my vacation that I need to catch up on before the end of the month so I can get back into my groove.

I’ve been seeing these cute little lip shaker things all over social network as well as since I like the lip oils that I’ve tried (Clarins as well as Sephora), I decided to provide this one a whirl. This palette was developed by none other than beauty artist extraordinaire, Lisa Eldridge.  She is the innovative director at Lancôme now! I’m excited to try out this palette (and I believe 16 pan is the largest palette I own!)

Går for denne morgenen går nå med Rosie, det er en ekstremt annen opplevelse enn det var med faner. Han, for mangel på et mye bedre ord, dominert sirkelen. Han gikk ikke bare rundt den. Han hadde asfaltet hele metoden rundt.

Alle de andre kattene i samfunnet forstått faner hadde generelt veien så vel som fortauet, så vel som han ikke bare “gå på tur.” Han strutted. Til faner var sirkelen en gigantisk catwalk.

Rosie.

Du forstår Rosie skjønt. Hun har panache, obvs, men hun går rundt sirkelen som om hun utfører et eksperiment. Hun studerer plantene, prosedyrer avstandene mellom husene, registrerer lysnivået, samt lufthøy kvalitet i hennes journal, så vel som hun selv prosedyrer for omgivende akustikk for å sitere antall kalkuner, vaktel, hunder og katter. Det er ganske ekstraordinært.

Jeg prøver å minimere mengden produkter med ftalater i min sminkeinnsamling (her er hvorfor), som er en av de viktigste årsakene til at jeg bruker det. Jeg liker også akkurat hvordan det er et dyr på å dekke ting mens de fortsatt ser naturlig ut.

Jeg bærer den skygge sanden under øynene mine, rundt nesen min, så vel som i hjørnene i munnen min (jeg er en NC42 i Mac, forresten). Ofte satte jeg det med litt Mac mineraliserende skinfinish naturlig pulver, så vel som ofte gjør jeg det ikke. Uansett, min hud ser ut som ekte hud, som er min estetikk i dag, vurderer at jeg har ekstremt litt toleranse for alt ugjennomsiktig eller tungt.

Noen mange flere tanker på hobbyer

Vel, vi er tre måneder i 2022, så vel som jeg fortsatt er i søken etter nye hobbyer.

Jeg har holdt opp å lese utelukkende for glede, så vel som wow! Det er utrolig akkurat hvor å lese bare noen få minutter for moro skyld kan modifikasjon nøyaktig hvordan du føler. Jeg oppdager meg selv trang bøker nå. Som, jeg føler meg fysisk hvis jeg unngår min lese-for-morsom tid. Det gjør meg glad, så jeg skal holde det oppe.

Åh! Jeg prøvde noe nytt i forrige uke. Jeg valgte et puslespill på en regional bokhandel i byen, Copperfield, så vel som tok glede i det så mye. Det er noe ekstremt meditative om å søke etter stykker. Connor hjalp meg da hun var i humør også.

Jeg kan ikke vente med å gjøre en annen, selv om jeg ønsker det var en slags bibliotekslignende service med puslespill. Jeg kan se meg selv komme inn i det, men det siste jeg trenger er mye flere ting i huset mitt, vet du?

Siste ting. Jeg har lagret min metode med en kokebok!

Litt backstory: Jeg benyttet til å som baking samt matlaging, men i fjor, det bummed meg ut.

For mye av 2021 hatet jeg – som full på foraktet – lager mat. Jeg ble stoked på aller første for å være i huset, så vel som kok når det er stengt i 2020, men etter en stund begynte jeg å føle at jeg håndterte en heltids kjøkkenkrok uten å innse det. I fjor var jeg helt over det, så vel som jeg ville bli lei meg når jeg måtte lage mat, spesielt på middag (jeg telefonsamtaler det “middagsrage”).

To wrap up “Comparison Week”, I have a quick post to compare 2 Milani blushes side by side: Milani Powder blush in #08 luminous as well as Milani Baked blush in #5 Luminoso.

1. Let’s go back in the day… What drugstore makeup (or makeup products) did you love and wear all the time?

My favorite brands were Revlon and wet ‘n’ Wild, and I got A lot of lipstick, nail polish, lip liner and eyeliner from both brands when I was in high school.

I also went through many, numerous Corn Silk pressed Powder compacts. remember those? I used to think the tortoiseshell packaging was the height of sophistication! ?

Oh, and completely gross confession ahead, but I rarely washed the pressed powder puff applicator that came with them… That thing was janky!

2. Your current favorite drugstore makeup brands?

I still love Revlon because of their variety and color range (their cream shadows, eyeliners and lipsticks are fantastic), and I also love Maybelline for their concealers and twist-up eye pencils; Covergirl for their tinted brow gel; Neutrogena for their foundations, tinted moisturizers and blush.

Not sure if truthful charm fully counts as a drugstore brand, because they’re at Target, but they make *the best* liquid lipsticks and liquid eyeliner.

3. drugstore skin care products you’ve purchased over and over again?

I’m going to have to choose Neutrogena here. Their Ultra gentle face wash and sheer Sunscreens are always in rotation!

4. Last piece of makeup you purchased from a drugstore?

Hmm… I might be forgetting something, but I don’t think so. The only place that carries makeup that I’ve shopped in person because March is Target, sooooo…the last things I purchased were a lip liner and lipstick from The Lip Bar.

5. Something from the drugstore charm world that just doesn’t work for you?

I’ve tried so numerous drugstore benzoyl peroxide acne creams, and I’ve never been pleased with any of ’em.

6. have you ever purchased perfume from the drugstore?

Hell, yes, girl! My first “grownup” scent was YSL Paris from Thrifty. I remember going there with my parents when I was in high school and purchasing it from the special locked cabinet in the charm section. Lol! I also purchased (and received) quite a few bottles of Cover girl Old Navy as well.

7. best drugstore essentials in the following categories: body wash, bar soap, shampoo/conditioner and body lotion?

Body wash — Anything by Aveeno.

Bar Soap — I’m a Dove girl.

Shampoo/Conditioner — Pantene Rosewater is the bomb dot com.

Body lotion — Gonna choose Aveeno again.

8. Who’s your drugstore shopping buddy?

Today’s project focus 10 review is not makeup, but something to help remove makeup; the Muji cut Cotton Ecru:

This is my a lot of used project focus 10 item – I’ve been using it nightly to remove my eye makeup considering that starting this series.

My basis of comparison will be against the Shiseido Facial Cotton, which to me, is the pinnacle of cotton perfection. There is really NO need to stray from it, except for the fact that it now costs a whopping CAD $11 for a pack of 165 pieces. I did a comparison between Shiseido and 2 drugstore “dupes” last year and Shiseido blew them out of the water. In the comments of that post, it was recommended that I try the Muji cotton, considering that it is also made in Japan and costs a fraction of what Shiseido costs.

The package comes with 140 pieces and only costs CAD $3.00 which is 68% more affordable than Shiseido’s per sheet!

Originally I set out to get the white version of Muji’s cut cotton, but they were out of stock so I settled for the ecru version, which is unbleached. ideal away, I can see that Muji’s cotton is slightly smaller in size, measuring 60 x 50mm whereas Shiseido’s is 65 x 55mm.

When I applied the Muji cotton to my skin, I can absolutely feel that it is rougher than Shiseido’s – this is especially apparently when I’m using it to remove eye makeup around my delicate eye area. I suspect this may be due to the fact that this is unbleached cotton which is less refined – you can see little specks in the Muji cotton.  I know that for some people with  allergies, unbleached cotton is a better alternative – as well, less processing indicates that it’s better for the environment.

I do find the Muji’s cotton is very thick and strong – it holds its shape even when soaked with remover / toner.  You can see that 10 pieces of Muji stacked  is much fluffier than 10 pieces of Shiseido.  The Muji cotton has no rough edges and there’s absolutely no lint or fluff coming off it. I did notice that it’s not as absorbent compared to Shiseido’s – liquid seems to sit on top for a second before it is absorbed. I also chalk this to the fact that this is unbleached cotton. Overall, it outperforms the Chinese-made drugstore “dupes” I examined before, but it’s not nearly as good as Shiseido’s.

I don’t read Japanese but from what I gather, the instructions on the back advises how to hold the cotton (the same as how Shiseido recommends) to use this to remove makeup.  It also recommends that you can use the cotton as a mask by first soaking it in toner / essence / lotion – this is a common thing to make with facial cotton in Japan, it seems.

I do really appreciate the resealable bag of the Muji – ahem, Shiseido!

I’ll use this bag up but likely won’t repurchase the ecru type – I do wonder if the Muji white version would be a lot more similar to the Shiseido?

• I started wearing the Maybelline SuperStay better Skin foundation that I got recently and I’ve been enjoying mixing it with the Guerlain lingerie De Peau BB cream
• Haven’t touched the Smashbox primer Spray in any way – still debating adding glycerin to it to see if it’ll help
